Founder & Principal

Leonard Spoto

Since co-founding Asset Exchange Company in 2006, Leonard has overseen all of the sales and marketing operations for the company. He is a frequent keynote speaker and an accredited course instructor on the subject of 1031 Tax Deferred Exchanges.  He has presented his popular real estate and tax workshops to over 30,000 Realtors, lenders, title professionals and investors and is the author of dozens of published 1031 Exchange related articles.

Leonard spends most of his free time shuttling his two kids between school, sports, piano, etc.  When not ubering for his family he tries not to crash his mountain bike.

Adam Skarsgard

Adam is a California attorney, CPA (inactive), real estate broker and co-founder of Asset Exchange Company. Adam oversees all exchange services for Asset Exchange Company. He has taught accredited 1031 Exchange seminars in five states and has written numerous published articles on 1031 Exchange.  Adam has also taught seven semesters at UC Berkeley Extension, including classes on real estate principles and real estate taxation.

Adam is an active member of the Raider Nation and can be found in the black hole at almost every home game.

Sr. Vice President, Greater LA

Phil Atwan

Phil educates more Tax Professionals, Attorneys, Real Estate, and Escrow Professionals regarding 1031 Tax Deferred Exchange tax code more than nearly anyone in the country.  Phil is featured at approximately 120 - 150 education seminars per year, through Los Angels, Orange, up to San Luis Obispo counties.  Helping and Educating people is work Phil greatly enjoys – and thrives on.  In addition, Phil has long served in various Board of Director and official capacities for the Escrow Associates of the San Gabriel Valley.

 

Phil grew up in Pasadena, CA, and now lives with in Whittier, where he and his wife enjoy their children and 6 grandchildren!

Patience Garza

Patience has facilitated 1031 Exchanges in almost every state of the country.  Currently, as the "quarterback" for Team Adam, Patience is the point person for almost every exchange Asset Exchange Company handles.  With over 17 years as a real estate agent, Patience is well equipped to handle the stress of multiple escrow closings and ensure a smooth and compliant exchange process for her clients.

Vice President Eastern Region

Jeff Stechman

Jeff is the Vice President Eastern Region for Asset Exchange Company.  With over 30 years of experience in the title insurance and 1031 Exchange industry, Jeff is a seasoned veteran who works hard to make sure all his clients understand the 1031 Exchange process, their options and what is needed for successful deferral of capital gain taxes.  During his career, he has held senior level positions in sales and operations management with some of the nation’s largest title insurance underwriters and he was a partner in an independent Florida title agency servicing the entire state of Florida.

Max Huang

Max Huang serves as Senior Exchange Officer for Asset Exchange Company.  Max is bilingual; besides English, he is fluent in Cantonese and Mandarin. He believes that language is an excellent opportunity to widen his social circle and enhance social connections. He enjoys forging relationships with non-English speaking clients.

Cami Jordan

Cami brings extensive real estate knowledge and experience to Asset Exchange Company.  Prior to joining us, Cami was an escrow officer for 10 years and also comes from a real estate family, her father a contractor and her mother a Realtor.  

 

Cami is also a parent and foster parent, passionate about creating a loving and supportive home for every child who comes through her door. She lives on a peaceful farm with her sister, where they are surrounded by animals, open skies, and the simple joys of country life. When not at home, Cami is out on a new adventure traveling.

Lois LaChat

Lois has worked in various aspects of the Real Estate Industry for over 25 years.  After working as a Real Estate Agent for several years, Lois obtained her Real Estate Brokers license and operated a Boutique Real Estate practice.  At Asset Exchange Company Lois spend most of her time on the phone with clients discussing options and strategies for a successful 1031 Exchange.

Adam Nishikawa

Adam brings over ten years of real estate expertise to Asset Exchange Company, with a specific focus on the Greater San Diego market. He has established himself as a renowned §1031 exchange subject matter expert and works in close collaboration with investors, agents, escrow officers, and CPAs, ensuring transparent communication, comprehensive education, and strict adherence to §1031 exchange regulations.

Marcia is a seasoned operations and client service professional with extensive expertise in real estate compliance, 1031 exchanges, and corporate administration. She has supervised the management of investor files, fund flows, and acquisitions while ensuring full compliance with IRS 1031 tax-deferred regulations and state licensing requirements.
