Adam Skarsgard

Founder & Principal

Adam Skarsgard is a California attorney, CPA (inactive), licensed real estate broker, and co-founder of Asset Exchange Company. He oversees AEC’s exchange services and regularly works on some of the most complex 1031 exchange transactions in the country.


Adam’s recent experience includes handling an approximately $400 million portfolio exchange and a $62 million reverse exchange. He has extensive experience with delayed, reverse, construction, multi-property, and drop-and-swap transactions, as well as exchanges involving multiple entities and complicated ownership structures.


Adam has also played a pivotal role in numerous client audits. He works closely with clients and their tax and legal advisors to provide the exchange documents, transaction records, and technical Section 1031 guidance needed to help substantiate the position taken in the exchange.


Adam has taught accredited 1031 exchange seminars in five states and written numerous published articles about Section 1031. He also taught seven semesters at UC Berkeley Extension, including courses on real estate principles and real estate taxation.


Outside the office, Adam is an active member of Raider Nation and can be found in the Black Hole at almost every home game.
